Mission Statement
WorldManna.org can generate billions of dollars to fund the work of existing anti-hunger groups and government entities and hunger prevention initiatives by creating unique partnerships between consumers of all faiths and food manufacturers. We intend to leverage the massive purchasing power and good will of consumers to transform the social consciousness and philanthropic culture of the food manufacturers; and also to raise public and political awareness of the issue of hunger and the need to find permanent solutions.

The Time Is Now
Food is available: 12 million American families and 840 people worldwide suffer from hunger during a time when our world has adequate resources to feed them.
World Communities are concerned: The United Nations General Assembly, an international body of 191 member countries, in September 2000, unanimously committed to reduce by half world hunger by 2015 and eradicate hunger in the 21st century. (The Millennium Project at UN Millennium Project).
Domestic Organizations are following the lead: The National Anti-Hunger Organizations (NAHO)* comprised of 13 major national anti hunger groups,* issued on June 3, 2004, a new "Blueprint to End Hunger in America." The NAHO Blueprint recommends investing in and improving the national nutrition safety net so that the hunger and food insecurity among Americans can be cut in half by 2010 - and to eradicate by 2015. Who We Are The Founders
Yosef I. Abramowitz, CEO of jflmedia.com/Jewish Family & Life and
publisher of SocialAction.com, is a protégé of Nobel Peace Prize Winner Elie
Wiesel. He serves as the President of the UCS: The union of Councils for
Jews in the Former Soviet Union, the leading grassroots non-profit
organization fighting anti Semitism, xenophobia and racism within the former
Soviet Union. UCSJ has twice been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Additionally, Mr. Abramowitz successfully led the Jewish community's
campaign in 1997 to reinstate over $7billion in the federal budget to
restore benefits for legal immigrants in the United States.
Hallel and Aliza Abramowitz-Silverman, daughters of Yosef and Rabbi Susan Silverman. As young children they observed that certain food items seemed to be more desirable because food manufacturers (in this case Paul Newman and his spaghetti sauce) were committed to donating proceeds from the sale of the product. They also noticed that the small kosher symbol found on many food products provides a meaningful way to identify kosher products. With youthful creativity, they proposed that all foods carry a symbol indicating that the manufacturer donates proceeds to feed hungry people.
Seed Funders
